Freestyle Forever Step tour

in News / by joparry
August 19, 2014

Hello…..

in News / by joparry
May 16, 2013

Hello…

Why hello there stranger I hear you cry!
Firstly apologies for not reaching out to you guys in a while, I’ve been having so much fun I completely lost track of time! How are you all? Hope all is good in business and in pleasure.
I have had the best couple of weeks ever, such good times and I’m feeling very blessed that I have even more to come!
I attended a best friends wedding and it was out-of-this-world. I loved every minute. Emma looked beautiful.
As I let my mind wander down memory lane I recalled some of the fun and crazy times we had at uni and now she is the first of us to marry, I can’t tell you how many Kleenex we went through. I love weddings, not only to celebrate the nuptials but also a great opportunity for all the girls and their partners to get together… Perfect. Lots of lovely people all together on a lovely day!
We must be getting old as there wasn’t a hangover in sight, I only had a few as we danced into the moonlight!
So, here’s to Mrs Seymour! Wishing you a magical marriage.
Classes
Well. I am loving my surge in class numbers and as much as I’d love to account it to the latest mind-blowing e-marketing strategy I’ll be honest I have no idea where it’s come from!!! I have not changed my tactics, done nothing different on social media yet my numbers are up massively.

Good old fashioned word of mouth eh? And possibly a glimpse of the sun!
There is always that slight panic when people start to think about summer clothes (or lack thereof) and lots of skin on show. Not that I am complaining, whatever the reason I love it that more and more people want to come and dance with me.
I’m still loving teaching my Freestyle and my Zumba, I do have the best of both worlds and I feel very blessed for that.
It helps that the music out there at the moment in the charts and on the airwaves is so good! This doesn’t always happen. So I am definitely making the most of it.
Music inspires me for choreography ideas, themes, intensity, everything really, it guides the whole class.
I also like the newest ZIN release as well. I find that whilst I take some inspiration from the DVD I am a Freestyler at heart so I gain more enjoyment from composing my own routines. Not always possible when I am not so good for time.

Events

Ahhhh, where do I start? We are right in the heights of events season and I’m loving it. I had the pleasure of presenting again at Fitness Fiesta in Hemsby, Great Yarmouth which was awesome! The beach looked so picturesque it was idyllic, the sun was out in all it’s glory it felt more like the Mediterranean. The classes outdoors were rammed and I had my first sighting of the year of an ice cream van!

My classes had an incredible energy. Peoples concentration level and energy after doing so many classes always astounds me. Fiesta has a real je ne sais quoi that no other event has, it has a unique family feel to it.
The level of Freestyle Step this time around at Hemsby was particularly high. This is great as Freestyle Step is not as popular as it was once but my Saturday class ROCKED! I was delighted with the skill level, everyone’s enthusiasm and knowledge made me realise that Step is not dead!
Besides catching up with everyone my Matt decided to turn up Saturday evening at the event and surprise me, which was just wonderful. I couldn’t decide whether to cry, scream with happiness or get my eyes checked…was I seeing things? Ha ha it was a lovely surprise. Stuart Harrop, Robert Cummings and Sebastian Paitek and myself were speechless.

Next step Cologne

I had a lovely bank holiday weekend getting sunburnt in between presenting classes in Cologne. Typical Brit eh? Bright red despite Factor 15!
SAAS event is held every May and November, such a warm, friendly and fun event. I am fortunate enough to catch up with the UK crew plus my foreign friends and let me say that FREESTYLE step is definitely alive in Germany. Sometimes I watch a class and wonder how they even thought up the choreography on the step!!! Pure brilliance. I presented Step team teach with Sava and House Dance. Awesome weekend.
Asymmetrical Step and Dance Aerobics is rife in Europe and my fellow presenters taught it effortlessly. More Brits should come over, you would love it. 4 hours of step and 4 hours of dance, then back shower and out to the Mexican restaurant! I love my life. Needless to say Matt did not turn up to Cologne to meet me ha ha ha but me and the girls did (Charlotte, Becky Boo and Emma) bump into the lovely and talented Faisel (presenter) in Cologne airport. Small world!
Mission Clean & Lean
I just wanted to share a wonderful achievement of one of our many achievements on Mission Clean & Lean. Thank you if you are reading this newsletter and you are one of our MCL super stars. Our fantastic Mission Clean & Lean member Caroline Willis has just completed her first marathon, YAHOOOOO and she has been good enough to share her MCL journey with us.
‘It’s been just over a year since I started the 21 day detox and here are my before and after pictures. Before I started, I couldn’t do a single full press up, I couldn’t plank for longer than 30 seconds, the list of things I couldn’t …do was long. Now one year on I can press up with the best of them, I can do a two and a half minute plank, I don’t hate burpees anymore (can’t believe I have just said that!) and this morning I completed my first marathon. A walking marathon but a marathon all the same and I did it in my bra. A year ago I would never have dreamed of letting anyone see my bare belly! Whilst I don’t stick stringently to the plan food wise, my eating habits have changed so much that I have no problem maintaining my weight, although I do try to work out every day if I can. To those of you in the middle of the plan, stick with it, it really works. If you don’t cheat, you will see real results, you get out what you put in. I lost just over a stone in the three weeks and went on to lose a further stone and a half. Thank you Jo & Fern’ x
Spring Clean 7 Day Detox
Well Fern and I are thrilled with the uptake of Spring Cleaners this last month. Our Spring Clean 7 day detox has proved to be a real hit with previous MCL members and new members that can take a week out of their lives to give the detox 100%. The whole idea behind the detox is to teach people to gradually add it in to your lifestyles forever. So you know when to eat clean and when you can cheat and how to get back on track after special occasions. We have a large group now with hundreds of members that regularly chat, rant, laugh and share recipes! We love it.
Plus our wonderful bloggers are doing a fantastic job with their health, weight loss and new fit physiques.
We are excited to be launching a new Beach detox soon. Check www.missioncleanlean.com for all additional your information.
Well, its been lovely to catch up with you. My life seems to be out of a bag at the moment, not that I’m complaining. I am off to Denmark this weekend; Latin lady which I haven’t done for a while and LOVE plus hip hop step and House Dance wooop.  Although it may be Monday by the time I send this out, so with that in mind … I hope you had a good weekend and the weather stayed bright for you, stay happy and good.
Lots of love,  Jo x

#CHAT Work mode on….

in News / by joparry
April 16, 2013
After a great break I am back on it, I am happily submerging myself into the full throttles of work. We have a few date nights in the diary to keep me sane and lots of wedding prep to keep me out of mischief. Other than that I’m all fired up to get my groove on.
In preparation I treated myself to some new wheels. Got me a nice pair of Nikes at the outlet in Pontefract for a bargain price, I was well impressed. New trainers = Bouncing off the ceiling all week. Me thinks my calves will regret this. The outlets are very hit and miss but if you go on a good day you really can pick up some treats.
Classes
So, my class numbers are coming back to normal which is great as I was getting a bit worried. My next purchase for marketing is an A board. Do you have one? Does it work for you? I am on top of my game on social media but I don’t want to let the face to face promo slide. Flyer drops, door to door and local businesses, A boards, banners that don’t get stolen! On that note if anyone can invent a poster that gives an electric shock when someone tries to steal it I would be all over it!
There is some great music out there at the moment too which is great as finding new music can be as hit and miss as finding new bargain trainers!
As you may know I use Solid Sound music for my dance aerobics and step classes which I love and it is ppl, but I also use single tracks from itunes, or power music which is PPL free music for my zumba classes.
www.solidsoundmusic.com for awesome aerobics, step, combat, conditioning & streets classes etc
www.powermusic.com for great ppl free albums and individual tracks for zumba
Let me know what you think of the music and if you have any recommendations or suggestions I am all ears. I am currently getting my head around all the new licensing changes and how it will affect me so lookout for my update on that in my next #chat
Events
I am soooo ready for an event now! IFS2013 in March was my last one and I have Fitness Fiesta in Hemsby Friday 19th to Sunday 21st April, near Great Yarmouth to look forward to. It is an awesome weekend with a huge variety of classes for you to try.
Check out www.fitnessfiesta.com the event is extremely reasonable and if you are a teacher you can gain so much from classes and as a fitness fanatic you will have so much fun!
*NEWSFLASH*
I will be on tour September through to November this year with Masterclasses and Workshops. Dance Aerobics, Pre-choreographed Dance Aerobics and Dance Strength and Stretch. What do you think? Would this material be of use to you? Let me know before I make my final decision.
I am still working on a tour title so all suggestions from you creative types would be much appreciated.
Mission Clean & Lean goes GLOBAL! Say what?
How exciting is this! We are thrilled to announce our first American member for MCL. We were chuffed when our Europeans jumped on board but this is super exciting. It proved everyone, everywhere needs a little push with their diet and fitness.
We have been filming work-out moves for Families magazine again, a local prestigious magazine that is designed for busy mums and families. This is our 2nd feature and we have a third feature in May, so it feels like  we really are full steam ahead. Let me hear say WHOOP!!!!!!
I am turning into a real foodie thanks to MCL. Right now I am really into Frittata, it consists of 8 whisked eggs, chopped mushrooms, spring onions, water cress, tarragon and coriander cooked in the frying pan then lastly put under the grill to brown it off. This lasts me a good few days and perfect for on the run.
HIIT training?
Did you do the free workout I sent on the link? I love HIIT training as the work outs are quick and effective and that is what we need in this day and age. Always remember that some moves need modifying in adaptation to injuries or relative level of conditioning. Feel free to contact me on twitter @JoParryLeeds if you need some advice on exercise modification.
Have you checked out GYMCUBE? Did you sign up to your free 30 day trial?

www.gymcube.com
Gymcube allows subscribers unlimited access to its extensive and diverse timetable of LIVE online classes.
First day filming for me LIVE was on Wednesday and it was ace, I loved it. A real buzz.
Thanks to those who tuned in and gave me your feedback on facebook, really appreciate it guys!
That’s all for now, I’m off to choose centre pieces for the wedding! Current stress levels moderate to high hahaha!
Be safe, keep up the good work!
Love Jo x

She’s got the vibe …

in News / by joparry
April 6, 2013
Finally this week we saw some sunshine. What a difference is makes. Literally puts the spring in your step and the vibe in your class.
How was your Easter? I had my folks visiting, it was wonderful to just ‘be’. Just sitting, relaxing, chatting, catching up and of course my new favourite hobby… Wedding lists!
I also got the chance to have a girlie shopping trip with my mum whilst dad and Matt bonded at work. Matt is a carpenter so dad got involved with his big boots on and  the essential flask of hot tea (yes it still takes a while for my folks to adapt to the Yorkshire weather despite the arrival of a little sun lol).
The only downside was Marley, our dog, had another incident, bless him. He fell over and ripped his dew claw… Blood everywhere! I thought my poor mum was going to faint! A trip to the emergency vet and £109 later (at which point I thought I was going to faint) and he’s a happy little fella again. In addition he got extra cuddles all weekend.
Hope you had a lovely break. What did you get up to?
Classes
So, in reviewing my classes over the holiday period. I definitely made a mistake I need to ensure doesn’t happen again. I agreed to teach Bank Holiday even though I would have loved some time off but my community gang are always there through thick and thin so I thought it would be a good thing to do. Then over the course of the hours before class I got lots of messages saying sadly something had come up and for various reasons people couldn’t make it. Lesson learned, to be honest I don’t think it hurts for everyone to have a break on Bank holiday so I will adopt that theory for the next bank hol.
General class numbers this week and last have been low due to school holidays and Easter. Parents have a lot to contend with and I’m sure I’ll be reminded of this if we are lucky enough to have children.
This break period allows me to work on promotion for my classes, flyers, A boards, website, social media, newsletters and banners. I love the community spirit, everyone pitches in to spread the word, handing out my flyers and re-tweeting my updates. Thank YOU. Always appreciated.
Events
I am so looking forward to a weekend off. In terms of events its FitPro is on, I am not presenting there this year but please give me your feedback on your favourite bits if you go. Its always a great event, very professional.
I will be catching up with friends, chilling with my boy and visiting the vets… again!!!
I’m still on a high from IFS. It was truly EPIC. Don’t forget you can now book for 2014, the 10th anniversary showcase.
Fitness Fiesta, Great Yarmouth is on the weekend of the 19th of April. That’s always good, fingers crossed there will be sun and ice cream vans.
Then at the end of April, I have cancelled a convention as my wonderful friend is getting married. I am so excited. One minute we were at Uni drinking and partying … I mean studying (cough, cough) and then next its weddings. How time flies!
Another wonderful event in my calendar is PINK AEROBICS in Hyde Park, all in aid of breast Cancer run by  Selaine from Less Bounce. I love dressing up in PINK! Any excuse. The day is just perfect, fun, laughter, pink, dance classes  all in all a fab 4 hours out albeit very emotional! You can book early bird price now online and make a difference. You get a wonderful Pink Aerobics 2013 t shirt and a goodie bag. Hope to see you there!
Mission Clean & Lean blogger Charlotte Carlton – one year on, 4 stone lighter at the age of 20!
If you have not already read Charlotte’s blog on her year’s achievement of dropping 4 stone, gaining a huge amount of positive confidence, gaining serious fitness and learning how to enjoy food, be clean, eat out and still be healthy.
You can sign up for FREE to www.missioncleanlean.com to receive more info or simply log on to check out the blog for an inspiring read!
Our focus is on clean eating and High Intensity Interval training (HIIT)
Why HIIT?
HIIT has a plethora of benefits when it comes to burning body fat and increasing your metabolic rate which is why we use it in our programme. Its an extreme method of training which has extreme results. Put simply it’s a workout that alternates between intense bursts of activity and fixed periods of rest. The beauty is you can do it anywhere, it’s very time efficient and a great challenge. Remember if it doesn’t challenge you. It doesn’t change you!
I have attached a FREE HIIT workout for you to download http://youtu.be/Bsd9OpjfPXg
DVDs and downloads
I am in the process of working out new DVDs to film. I was thinking about another Step DVD, a conditoning DVD a Street Dance dvd and also a pre choreographed DVD for dance aerobics. This is all in the pipeline and I would be more than happy to hear your feedback on any other dvds I could produce.
Strictly Fit is still the best seller for this month and last month however Back II Basics DVD for dance aerobics beginners to advanced is catching up.
Remember you can  view my youtube channel  for FREE ideas. The DVDs and the Downloads are for technique and layering examples and teaching skills.
The most popular download this month so far is Dance aerobics. Is this a sign of things to come? Are we embracing Freestyle more? I believe that we will see a rise in Freestyle classes being taught which is great. Well done on the revival. At the same time well done for teaching what needs to be taught and what the people ask for. Stay ahead of the game. Do your research and be aware of what YOUR community or gym needs and wants and  get good at delivering different styles so you can switch if need be.
Have a fab weekend, hope you are doing something niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice. Keep me updated with your #chat @JoParryLeeds

Love Jo xx

Easter Greetings

in News / by joparry
March 30, 2013
So much to look forward to this weekend; a 4 day break, lots of chocolate, time for family and friends, just one thing missing… the sun!
I have my folks up this weekend so I’m feeling particularly lucky.
What are your plans for this Easter? Hope you’re doing something special.
I am still on cloud 9 after having the pleasure of experiencing an epic IFS 2013. More in the events section. Next year will be Chrysalis Promotions 10th Anniversary, can you believe that! Expect big things. Get in early and book now via www.chrysalispromotions.com
Classes
Due to work commitments I have had to change my Wednesday morning Zumba class. The good news is I have had a smooth transition to Monday mornings which is fab. Luckily the venue and my ladies are understanding and supportive.
So, the reason for the change…
I have been asked to present for gymcube, a website that streams live online classes. So my Wednesday morning ladies can actually still workout with me in the comfort of their own homes. And so can you… Take a look at www.gymcube.com and sign up for your FREE 30 day trial. There is a diverse timetable for you to indulge in. I will most definitely be taking some yoga classes.
I start on Wednesday, very excited and a bit nervous but I love a new challenge. I met with the gymcube guys at the weekend and they are wonderful. I am in great company also as the very talented Cherry Baker, Stuart Harrop and Martin Jensen are already on board. Catch me on twitter @JoParryLeeds for more gymcube updates #chat.
Events
Were you at IFS?
Such an incredible weekend. Truly uplifting, the only downside was when my car got locked in the car park on the Sunday night, but that didn’t spoil the high!
Year after year it just gets better. All these amazing classes under one roof. You would not believe it, Piloxing, Pilates, Zumba, Bokwa, Dance (all streams), Step, Spinning, Conditioning, Yoga, lectures, Burlesque, Aerobics the list goes on… The atmosphere was alive and the level of presenting was outstanding. I am always so impressed with the participants energy, some people did all 19 classes for the weekend, RESPECT! Some of them were all step classes!!!!! Probably equated to climbing the Eiffel tower… like 100 times!
Outstanding presenters such as Steve Watson, Ceri Hannon, Nikkie Riozzi, Rachel Holmes, Donna Giffen and Naomi (from Zumba) Claudio, Sava, Moris, Anastasia, Jiro,Pawel, Danny, Ivan, Marvin Burton, Sal Russ, Cherry baker, Stuart Harrop, Michael Steel, Greg Sellar….to name but a few, I am sorry, I know I have missed loads. Steve Boedt and Tony Stone were missing which I was gutted about but nonetheless it was incredible. The sponsored rooms looked supercool. Everyone totally up’d their game. The ICE themed gala dinner was hosted by Suart Harrop  and was hilarious as ever. All in all a phenomenal experience.
I had 3 classes over the weekend spread out one a day so it allowed me plenty of time to catch up with people, shop, chill and join in other peoples classes, I love getting chance to learn.
I was exhausted by Monday, a 5 hour round trip to pick my car back up was not great ( I could have cried) but C’est la Vie.
If you missed this year you can check out the showreel doing the rounds on facebook. Its bound to make you get online and book for next year.
Spring Clean Detox
We are on our third group now for the 7 day Detox. Thanks so much for your feedback, most of you said 7 days was enough time to make an impact. You can make the changes, get results and fit it into your busy lifestyles.
We are constantly thrilled by the uptake and the changes we are able to make to peoples lives. My business partner Fern has been busy editing the website. We have a great blog featuring Charlotte Carlton who, in a year, dropped 4 stone and approximately 38 inches! Just awesome.
Check out www.missioncleanlean.com for more info.
Do you have a special occasion coming up this year? Our detox is a great way to kick start a new you.

Joanne Telfer is a bride on a mission juggling a demanding job, two children under two and a beautiful overseas wedding to organise!  At  least something can be ticked off the list – her dream wedding dress has already been chosen, paid for and is safely stored at her mum’s. Just  one thing… it doesn’t quite fit yet!

If you feel like you want to make a difference to yourself and your lifestyle then do book on.
Have a wonderful Easter weekend people. Don’t forget the clocks go forward tonight! Yay, to lighter nights and the hope of some sunshine.
Have a lovely Easter weekend,
Lots of love Jo

Whatever the weather…

in News / by joparry
March 27, 2013

Really? What is going on? Snow, rain, sunshine, drizzle, wind, blizzard. Bright, dull. Hot, cold. This weather is freakish but you know what? Despite four seasons in one day my loyal class members are always there. It makes me smile from inside.

Would love a bit of consistency though.  Especially as Spring is such an exciting time. New beginings.

March, in particular, has been such a busy month for me. Events, classes, birthdays, detox planning, wedding planning.  Some days I have no idea where I am or where the time goes.

I do forget sometimes that I live in such a vibrant city. I need to get out more. The wheel is here at the moment and we have a new ultra-cool shopping centre just opened. I hope the wheel hasn’t gone by the time I venture in to the city.

So many people come up north for weekends, shopping  and nights out and its right here on my doorstep and I don’t take full advantage. Basically, what I’m trying to say is Watch out Leeds I’m coming!!! My new goal is to take full advantage.

This weekend at IFS I am meeting up with my Bessie friend and chief bridesmaid, I am so excited to be going over wedding bits and bobs. I am also very lucky to have a wedding planner, another fab friend, who is currently organising my hen do. She has been here 5 minutes and already has some wicked suggestions. The race’s is currently front runner. All ideas welcome. What did you do for your hen ladies?

Classes

Class numbers are stabilising themselves again which is good to see but you must never let your foot off the gas when it comes to promoting classes and advertising. My gym classes are busy at Virgin Active and Trugym. I only do 3 classes in clubs and the rest are community.

I am looking to organize a Zumba day/dance aerobic event again in the summer, would you guys be up for it? It would be in Leeds.

I am also presenting on a Funk Raiser event being organised by Nikkie Riozzi on Saturday June 22nd In the Midlands. Check out the event on Facebook.  I will send out more details on how to book through justgiving nearer the time.

We have another Spring Clean detox starting Monday 25th March if you are game for cleaning up your food habits and hitting some work outs you can book now via our wonderfully new and sparkly website www.missioncleanlean.com

We had a wonderful day on Tuesday cooking all the new dishes to feature n our healthy detox ebook. I had to prepare some dishes for photographing and make them look attractive, which any normal person can do but I struggle with making my cooking look pretty. I love to cook but it’s not something that comes easily to me, it always tastes nice but does not always resemble that picture perfect look ha ha!

Needless to say the ebook ROCKs!!!

My Strictly DVD’s and my Back II Basics 2 DVD’s are flying out!!! Spring in your step

#CHAT

High five to waking up and feeling like a sniff of Spring is finally in the air. The clouds are lifting, people are smiling, the nights are getting lighter. Despite reports that snow is on its way again I definitely feel that winter is coming to an end *big sigh of relief*

Classes

My classes have been good this week. Not overflowing but steady. I always get a surge of motivation to do some extra promotion when I get a ‘steady’ week so I have been out and about flyering and chatting to folks in our community. Local businesses are always willing to help push ventures and the more you chat the more scope there is for contra-deals.

I have noticed that my Zumba classes attract a more regular crew whereas Street dance always gets new people, my venue is based in central Leeds so that might be an influence, I also think this style is very much the ‘in’ thing at the moment.

Hope the arrival of Spring is putting some bounce into your classes.

Mission clean and lean

What a great first week our newbie’s are having. The first week is always the hardest, I think, as you have to so much to get used to; withdrawal symptoms, uncertainty about how you should be feeling, getting used to a new type of training etc. However, my crew have absolutely smashed it ! Already they are feeling better, clothes are baggy, food tastes better and they have bundles of energy.

I love that we bring back the value of food to a lot of people. Eating clean really is a life changing transformation.

We have had so much feedback about launching a 7 day Spring clean detox so we are thrilled to announce that will be starting on Monday 18th March for £18.00 plus we have our regular 21 day detox also starting on Monday 18th March for £49.00

To book your place go to Shop on www.joparry.com

The Spring Clean is mainly directed to previous MCL members who need a pick me up and a kick in the right direction again although anyone can join it.

If you want up to date info follow me on twitter for all my #chat @JoParryLeeds

Events

WOW what a 2 week of events I have been lucky enough to experience.

Fitness Fiesta was at Windsor 2 weeks ago a wonderful 4 star fitness event with UK and International presenters from all over the world giving it large under one roof. The atmosphere and energy was incredible. The classes ranged from Zumba, Bokwa, Fight Klub, Step, Aerobics, Street dance, Pilates, Yoga, Aqua and Ballroom. What a diverse and wonderful industry we work in.  All classes were off the hook busy giving delegates the opportunity to participate in classes they probably don’t get at home.

Last weekend I returned to my event home from home Pontins, Camber Sands along with a jaw dropping 1700 plus people.

This weekend was INCREDIBLE. One of the best ever. Great energy.

Did you see the infamous Armageddon Harlem Shake. Genius. 300 plus people going hardcore in Richard Calenders Armageddon class, 300 plus Fight Klubbers kicking  butt in the fun factory! Body combat was rammed to the rafters and Zumba with Donna Giffen rocked. The weekend was packed and the energy was infectious. Spinning classes were hot, sweaty and rammed, dance classes were inspirational to the next level.

All the presenters were outstanding but my personal highlight was the fancy dress on Saturday night, you had to come as something beginning with the letter C… Charlotte Carlton and I were of course Chav’s!

We partied alongside cabin crew, cave women, crash test dummies, men in the Closet, Cruella Deville and Coco cola bottles. We had a great night!

I was a step junkie delivering  beginners  and level 2 freestyle step and I loved every minute. On stage with the lovely Jeni and Michelle we put on our spangly numbers  for  Disco Dancer and Lyrical jazz and Strictly fit completed my weekend. I met so many instructors there, its so good to know that there is new talent coming through and lots of you are continuing your professional development as well as having a good giggle.  Welcome to the fiesta family!

All in all the best Camber in my 10 years of presenting there. Woah, did I just say 10 years!!!

Clothing

As a busy teacher and presenter I am always in need of new kit and I got some great steals from Serena Step n Pump at the week end. The website is www.stepnpump.com  and it really is every teachers dream collection from lycra to baggy to girlie to casual plus trainers, dance shoes , Zumba shoes and flip flops. At the top of my wishlist is a pair of jazz shoes due to all the Lyrical Jazz I am teaching now.

Plus www.bordonisport.com Patricia has some beautiful aerobic tops, dance wear and going out accessories on there to.

Happy shopping!

Right, I’m off to check on how we are getting on with this Spring malarkey. Happy days!!!

Until next week, be good!

Love Jo x

A change is coming…

in News / by joparry
February 26, 2013

W O W !!! What a week! I had a truly amazing birthday, was spoiled by friends, family and class members. I was totally overwhelmed.  Thank you to everyone who posted, liked, tweeted, poked, emailed, text or called. What did we ever do without the joys of technology eh?

So, I had a little think, a bit of reflection does wonders for getting you in the mood for  mapping out your future goals and ambitions. My priority right now is my wedding later this year and then we are hoping to start a family, I will still teach the odd class but I will definitely be re-directing my worklife. I guess it’s that crossroads in a fitness professionals life / career when you  have to ask the question Am I going to continue to teach forever? And what do I do next?

Would love your thoughts on this? Especially if this is something you are facing  now or have faced recently.  Don’t forget you can catch me on twitter @JoParryLeeds #chat

And if this is where you are at right now  then here’s a little wisdom from  Anthony Robbins to help you on your way ;

“You are now at a crossroads. This is your opportunity to make the most important decision you will ever make. Forget your past. Who are you now? Who have you decided you really are now? Don’t think about who you have been. Who are you now? Who have you decided to become? Make this decision consciously. Make it carefully. Make it powerfully.”

I will be focusing more on Mission Clean & Lean as a business venture, getting more into teacher training and education, organising events and workshops and finding opportunities where I can have a passive income. Not quite hanging up my aerobic shoes but definitely heading into a new phase.

In preparation my husband to be is making me an office, he is a superb joiner *shameless hint for anyone local who wants some work doing* and I know he will do an amazing job. I can’t wait!

Classes

Still riding the wave with my classes, very busy, full of energy and full of smiles. I feel blessed to have a mix of freestyle and pre-choreographed classes. I get enough balance and enough creativity without the stress.

I love Zumba. I love the fact that I can introduce a new song every other week and I have a repotoire of routines now that everyone likes and knows. Takes the pressure off me a little and they love it! Don’t get me wrong I love my freestyle classes but coming up with new sparkly routines all the time can be a challenge especially when life gets in the way, I like a challenge but I don’t like stress!

So a mix of the two suits me very well.

Of course this week is half term up north. I haven’t seen a dip in my classes at all but I have had an array of beautifully well behaved children colouring and playing at the back of my classes. I don’t mind this at all. It’s a safe environment for them and I’m broody so I love having children around.

How are your classes going? If you want some additional help or ideas and inspiration  for your classes please check out my website…

All in all I am happy with my work life balance right now. Are you?  I do hope so.

On that note I am going to shut down the laptop snuggle up to my man and convince him to take me to the ice rink in Millenium square for a bit of Dancing On Ice. I’ll keep you posted J

LOVE IS IN THE AIR!

February 15, 2013

I LOVE this week! Valentines and my birthday! Feeling the love today, my facebook, email, phone et al has gone royally bonkers with kind messages of birthday wishes. Thank you so much, I feel very humbled and lucky.

As if this week couldn’t be any better my class numbers went through the roof! The only downside to the week was cancelling Zumba on Wednesday due to the snow #grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, luckily the white stuff disappeared as quickly as it arrived so all was back to normal by Thursday.

This girl is on fiiiiiiiiire

I am a girl on a mission, to allow for birthday treats and cheats I have been hardcore in the gym. Lots of high intensity intervals and bodyweight exercises. I find that I have more energy in classes when I am training hard myself and, of course, with this weeks extravagance I knew I had some serious damage limitation to apply!

Plus there’s nothing more motivating than having a great buzz in classes which I certainly have at the moment, I think people have picked up their new year resolutions again and decided to gear themselves up for a summer body. Beast mode ; ON

Classes:

Numbers are sky high! New people are spreading the love and bringing their friends along to classes. Referrals are sh-amazing for your business, one of the most effective methods of marketing and the only cost is YOU! So remember to keep investing in you; love your classes, get to know everyones’ names, know their chat and spend time on making them feel at ease in your company.

That’s the magic of group fitness, I have always loved the bond you get from working in a team, even when I was a dancer, in fact, that’s probably where the love was born. From then I knew I wanted to teach and help people to achieve their dreams and I am grateful for having the opportunity to do that.

Also, I love Olly Murs hahaha! The new track is going down a storm in my classes, feedback is that it is a fun, effective,  feelgood, sing-along type of workout… Cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese! But we love it!

I will be choreographing more dance aerobic routines in the next few coming weeks, so please do let me know if there are any songs that you would like to add? I am always up for suggestions.

Valentines Cherish yourself – Mission Clean and Lean:

Our Valetine MCL’s have done amazing. They feel firmer, toned they have dropped lbs and inches and their skin feels so clear and soft, plus they have gained valuable information about how to eat, what to eat and when to eat. The experience if only 7 days has been life changing, Fern and I are thrilled by their progress. Their sexy new Valentines dress’s fit perfect and it’s ON!!!!!

We have another 7 day shape up available to book on starting Monday 18th Feb – 24th. The daily food plans, work outs, natural beauty treatment tips and the advice is invaluable and all this for £18. If you fancy a challenge but 7 days fits better into your schedule than 21 days then please book on via www.cleanleandetox.co.uk

Events:

Event season is in full swing! International Fitness Showcase at Blackpool is only 5 weeks away and the Fitness Fiestas are rolling out brilliantly. I love events for so many reasons, of course one is to have the opportunity to present my classes I love to the delegates, also,  the opportunity to meet people and catch up, it’s great for networking, I love to be inspired by other presenters, I love to join in classes so I never lose that feeling or experience of being a participant. The list goes on. If you are still yet to attend an event, get booking! You can book on for IFS 2013 via www.chrysalispromotions.com  and Fitness Fiestas via www.fitnessfiesta.com

The events holds classes of all disciplines from spinning to yoga to Zumba to hip hop from Fight Klub to Armageddon to Pilates to step to dance aerobics to Gravity or Hula Hoop to aqua!!!!! Plus if it all gets too much you can always book in for a massage!!!!!

Well, that’s all for now. I’m off to eat birthday cake and reflect on being a year older! My life is moving in a new direction this year, marriage and eventually starting a family, I am excited for the evolution of my career too …

Have a great weekend. Enjoy life and keep smiling, you never know who is watching J
