Whatever the weather…

in News / by joparry
March 27, 2013

Really? What is going on? Snow, rain, sunshine, drizzle, wind, blizzard. Bright, dull. Hot, cold. This weather is freakish but you know what? Despite four seasons in one day my loyal class members are always there. It makes me smile from inside.

Would love a bit of consistency though.  Especially as Spring is such an exciting time. New beginings.

March, in particular, has been such a busy month for me. Events, classes, birthdays, detox planning, wedding planning.  Some days I have no idea where I am or where the time goes.

I do forget sometimes that I live in such a vibrant city. I need to get out more. The wheel is here at the moment and we have a new ultra-cool shopping centre just opened. I hope the wheel hasn’t gone by the time I venture in to the city.

So many people come up north for weekends, shopping  and nights out and its right here on my doorstep and I don’t take full advantage. Basically, what I’m trying to say is Watch out Leeds I’m coming!!! My new goal is to take full advantage.

This weekend at IFS I am meeting up with my Bessie friend and chief bridesmaid, I am so excited to be going over wedding bits and bobs. I am also very lucky to have a wedding planner, another fab friend, who is currently organising my hen do. She has been here 5 minutes and already has some wicked suggestions. The race’s is currently front runner. All ideas welcome. What did you do for your hen ladies?

Classes

Class numbers are stabilising themselves again which is good to see but you must never let your foot off the gas when it comes to promoting classes and advertising. My gym classes are busy at Virgin Active and Trugym. I only do 3 classes in clubs and the rest are community.

I am looking to organize a Zumba day/dance aerobic event again in the summer, would you guys be up for it? It would be in Leeds.

I am also presenting on a Funk Raiser event being organised by Nikkie Riozzi on Saturday June 22nd In the Midlands. Check out the event on Facebook.  I will send out more details on how to book through justgiving nearer the time.

Mission Clean & Lean

Well Spring Clean 7 day detox is in full flow and they are doing great 🙂 Everyone is loving the new smoothie recipes we have added into our meal plans. We have another Spring Clean detox starting Monday 25th March if you are game for cleaning up your food habits and hitting some work outs you can book now via our wonderfully new and sparkly website www.missioncleanlean.com

We had a wonderful day on Tuesday cooking all the new dishes to feature n our healthy detox ebook. I had to prepare some dishes for photographing and make them look attractive, which any normal person can do but I struggle with making my cooking look pretty. I love to cook but it’s not something that comes easily to me, it always tastes nice but does not always resemble that picture perfect look ha ha!

Needless to say the ebook ROCKs!!!

My Strictly DVD’s and my Back II Basics 2 DVD’s are flying out!!! Spring in your step

#CHAT

High five to waking up and feeling like a sniff of Spring is finally in the air. The clouds are lifting, people are smiling, the nights are getting lighter. Despite reports that snow is on its way again I definitely feel that winter is coming to an end *big sigh of relief*

Classes

My classes have been good this week. Not overflowing but steady. I always get a surge of motivation to do some extra promotion when I get a ‘steady’ week so I have been out and about flyering and chatting to folks in our community. Local businesses are always willing to help push ventures and the more you chat the more scope there is for contra-deals.

I have noticed that my Zumba classes attract a more regular crew whereas Street dance always gets new people, my venue is based in central Leeds so that might be an influence, I also think this style is very much the ‘in’ thing at the moment.

Hope the arrival of Spring is putting some bounce into your classes.

Mission clean and lean

What a great first week our newbie’s are having. The first week is always the hardest, I think, as you have to so much to get used to; withdrawal symptoms, uncertainty about how you should be feeling, getting used to a new type of training etc. However, my crew have absolutely smashed it ! Already they are feeling better, clothes are baggy, food tastes better and they have bundles of energy.

I love that we bring back the value of food to a lot of people. Eating clean really is a life changing transformation.

We have had so much feedback about launching a 7 day Spring clean detox so we are thrilled to announce that will be starting on Monday 18th March for £18.00 plus we have our regular 21 day detox also starting on Monday 18th March for £49.00

To book your place go to Shop on www.joparry.com

The Spring Clean is mainly directed to previous MCL members who need a pick me up and a kick in the right direction again although anyone can join it.

If you want up to date info follow me on twitter for all my #chat @JoParryLeeds

Events

WOW what a 2 week of events I have been lucky enough to experience.

Fitness Fiesta was at Windsor 2 weeks ago a wonderful 4 star fitness event with UK and International presenters from all over the world giving it large under one roof. The atmosphere and energy was incredible. The classes ranged from Zumba, Bokwa, Fight Klub, Step, Aerobics, Street dance, Pilates, Yoga, Aqua and Ballroom. What a diverse and wonderful industry we work in.  All classes were off the hook busy giving delegates the opportunity to participate in classes they probably don’t get at home.

Last weekend I returned to my event home from home Pontins, Camber Sands along with a jaw dropping 1700 plus people.

This weekend was INCREDIBLE. One of the best ever. Great energy.

Did you see the infamous Armageddon Harlem Shake. Genius. 300 plus people going hardcore in Richard Calenders Armageddon class, 300 plus Fight Klubbers kicking  butt in the fun factory! Body combat was rammed to the rafters and Zumba with Donna Giffen rocked. The weekend was packed and the energy was infectious. Spinning classes were hot, sweaty and rammed, dance classes were inspirational to the next level.

All the presenters were outstanding but my personal highlight was the fancy dress on Saturday night, you had to come as something beginning with the letter C… Charlotte Carlton and I were of course Chav’s!

We partied alongside cabin crew, cave women, crash test dummies, men in the Closet, Cruella Deville and Coco cola bottles. We had a great night!

I was a step junkie delivering  beginners  and level 2 freestyle step and I loved every minute. On stage with the lovely Jeni and Michelle we put on our spangly numbers  for  Disco Dancer and Lyrical jazz and Strictly fit completed my weekend. I met so many instructors there, its so good to know that there is new talent coming through and lots of you are continuing your professional development as well as having a good giggle.  Welcome to the fiesta family!

All in all the best Camber in my 10 years of presenting there. Woah, did I just say 10 years!!!

Clothing

As a busy teacher and presenter I am always in need of new kit and I got some great steals from Serena Step n Pump at the week end. The website is www.stepnpump.com  and it really is every teachers dream collection from lycra to baggy to girlie to casual plus trainers, dance shoes , Zumba shoes and flip flops. At the top of my wishlist is a pair of jazz shoes due to all the Lyrical Jazz I am teaching now.

Plus www.bordonisport.com Patricia has some beautiful aerobic tops, dance wear and going out accessories on there to.

Happy shopping!

Right, I’m off to check on how we are getting on with this Spring malarkey. Happy days!!!

Until next week, be good!

Love Jo x

A change is coming…

in News / by joparry
February 26, 2013

W O W !!! What a week! I had a truly amazing birthday, was spoiled by friends, family and class members. I was totally overwhelmed.  Thank you to everyone who posted, liked, tweeted, poked, emailed, text or called. What did we ever do without the joys of technology eh?

So, I had a little think, a bit of reflection does wonders for getting you in the mood for  mapping out your future goals and ambitions. My priority right now is my wedding later this year and then we are hoping to start a family, I will still teach the odd class but I will definitely be re-directing my worklife. I guess it’s that crossroads in a fitness professionals life / career when you  have to ask the question Am I going to continue to teach forever? And what do I do next?

Would love your thoughts on this? Especially if this is something you are facing  now or have faced recently.  Don’t forget you can catch me on twitter @JoParryLeeds #chat

And if this is where you are at right now  then here’s a little wisdom from  Anthony Robbins to help you on your way ;

“You are now at a crossroads. This is your opportunity to make the most important decision you will ever make. Forget your past. Who are you now? Who have you decided you really are now? Don’t think about who you have been. Who are you now? Who have you decided to become? Make this decision consciously. Make it carefully. Make it powerfully.”

I will be focusing more on Mission Clean & Lean as a business venture, getting more into teacher training and education, organising events and workshops and finding opportunities where I can have a passive income. Not quite hanging up my aerobic shoes but definitely heading into a new phase.

In preparation my husband to be is making me an office, he is a superb joiner *shameless hint for anyone local who wants some work doing* and I know he will do an amazing job. I can’t wait!

Classes

Still riding the wave with my classes, very busy, full of energy and full of smiles. I feel blessed to have a mix of freestyle and pre-choreographed classes. I get enough balance and enough creativity without the stress.

I love Zumba. I love the fact that I can introduce a new song every other week and I have a repotoire of routines now that everyone likes and knows. Takes the pressure off me a little and they love it! Don’t get me wrong I love my freestyle classes but coming up with new sparkly routines all the time can be a challenge especially when life gets in the way, I like a challenge but I don’t like stress!

So a mix of the two suits me very well.

Of course this week is half term up north. I haven’t seen a dip in my classes at all but I have had an array of beautifully well behaved children colouring and playing at the back of my classes. I don’t mind this at all. It’s a safe environment for them and I’m broody so I love having children around.

How are your classes going? If you want some additional help or ideas and inspiration  for your classes please check out my website…

Mission Clean and Lean

Mission clean and lean opens its doors again Monday 25th Feb to new members  wanting  to drop weight and inches, make a positive change to their health and strengthen mind and body.

In addition to my classes MCL has brought me a lot of  job satisfaction. Bringing people together, changing lives for the better and making friends. What more could a fit pro ask for?

If you want to get in shape and achieve that dream body you have always longed for then bite the bullet and book on via http://www.cleanleandetox.co.uk/

Fern, my business partner, and I have had some incredible business meetings to help develop our company. To be honest I feel like my head is going to explode with all the things we have planned but that’s a good thing. I. am. buzzing!!!!

All in all I am happy with my work life balance right now. Are you?  I do hope so.

On that note I am going to shut down the laptop snuggle up to my man and convince him to take me to the ice rink in Millenium square for a bit of Dancing On Ice. I’ll keep you posted J

Have a wonderful week, see you on the other side!

LOVE IS IN THE AIR!

in News, Uncategorized / by joparry
February 15, 2013

I LOVE this week! Valentines and my birthday! Feeling the love today, my facebook, email, phone et al has gone royally bonkers with kind messages of birthday wishes. Thank you so much, I feel very humbled and lucky.

As if this week couldn’t be any better my class numbers went through the roof! The only downside to the week was cancelling Zumba on Wednesday due to the snow #grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, luckily the white stuff disappeared as quickly as it arrived so all was back to normal by Thursday.

This girl is on fiiiiiiiiire

I am a girl on a mission, to allow for birthday treats and cheats I have been hardcore in the gym. Lots of high intensity intervals and bodyweight exercises. I find that I have more energy in classes when I am training hard myself and, of course, with this weeks extravagance I knew I had some serious damage limitation to apply!

Plus there’s nothing more motivating than having a great buzz in classes which I certainly have at the moment, I think people have picked up their new year resolutions again and decided to gear themselves up for a summer body. Beast mode ; ON

Classes:

Numbers are sky high! New people are spreading the love and bringing their friends along to classes. Referrals are sh-amazing for your business, one of the most effective methods of marketing and the only cost is YOU! So remember to keep investing in you; love your classes, get to know everyones’ names, know their chat and spend time on making them feel at ease in your company.

That’s the magic of group fitness, I have always loved the bond you get from working in a team, even when I was a dancer, in fact, that’s probably where the love was born. From then I knew I wanted to teach and help people to achieve their dreams and I am grateful for having the opportunity to do that.

Also, I love Olly Murs hahaha! The new track is going down a storm in my classes, feedback is that it is a fun, effective,  feelgood, sing-along type of workout… Cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese! But we love it!

I will be choreographing more dance aerobic routines in the next few coming weeks, so please do let me know if there are any songs that you would like to add? I am always up for suggestions.

Valentines Cherish yourself – Mission Clean and Lean:

Our Valetine MCL’s have done amazing. They feel firmer, toned they have dropped lbs and inches and their skin feels so clear and soft, plus they have gained valuable information about how to eat, what to eat and when to eat. The experience if only 7 days has been life changing, Fern and I are thrilled by their progress. Their sexy new Valentines dress’s fit perfect and it’s ON!!!!!

We have another 7 day shape up available to book on starting Monday 18th Feb – 24th. The daily food plans, work outs, natural beauty treatment tips and the advice is invaluable and all this for £18. If you fancy a challenge but 7 days fits better into your schedule than 21 days then please book on via www.cleanleandetox.co.uk

Events:

Event season is in full swing! International Fitness Showcase at Blackpool is only 5 weeks away and the Fitness Fiestas are rolling out brilliantly. I love events for so many reasons, of course one is to have the opportunity to present my classes I love to the delegates, also,  the opportunity to meet people and catch up, it’s great for networking, I love to be inspired by other presenters, I love to join in classes so I never lose that feeling or experience of being a participant. The list goes on. If you are still yet to attend an event, get booking! You can book on for IFS 2013 via www.chrysalispromotions.com  and Fitness Fiestas via www.fitnessfiesta.com

The events holds classes of all disciplines from spinning to yoga to Zumba to hip hop from Fight Klub to Armageddon to Pilates to step to dance aerobics to Gravity or Hula Hoop to aqua!!!!! Plus if it all gets too much you can always book in for a massage!!!!!

Well, that’s all for now. I’m off to eat birthday cake and reflect on being a year older! My life is moving in a new direction this year, marriage and eventually starting a family, I am excited for the evolution of my career too …

Have a great weekend. Enjoy life and keep smiling, you never know who is watching J

Flirty February

in News / by joparry
February 5, 2013

Well February is here, the month of love… and my birthday!!!

Now that we are full steam ahead into 2013 I feel so inspired and motivated. I am loving my classes, enjoying planning future events and full of ideas for my new DVD’s and downloads. It was great to have a break over Christmas I have bounced back with renewed energy and vigour.

Classes

My community classes are finally coming back into their own, have lots of new people coming that have heard about the classes through word of mouth, social media, websites and leaflets. I’m thrilled that they are back on track, I do love my community classes. I have realized how easy it is ,relatively, to teach at clubs. The mic is there, the air con is on, the PR and marketing is dealt with by the club all you have to do is turn up and teach but despite this, ultimately community classes are where my heart lies. I like being my own boss and the people are there just because of you, it’s a very rewarding feeling.

The flip side is you need to work harder to get the people through your door but I have always loved a challenge! When you love your job it makes it so much easier.

How are you finding the numbers in your classes?

I love to hear about your businesses, a special mention to Jane Wrafter who is running a fantastic fitness business. Let me know, give me a shout on twitter @JoParryLeeds #chat

Events

Fitness Fiesta in Hinkley on Friday and Saturday was amazeballs. I couldn’t wait to get presenting again and catching up with fellow presenters and punters. I love to hear what everyone’s been up to, what’s happening in their world and the changes in the fitness industry. The beauty of our business is its always evolving so we are always learning and advancing our skill set. I had 5 sessions this weekend; Freestyle step, Freestyle dance aerobics, Strictly Fit, Lyrical Jazz and Boomshackalack! (street dance/ragga), I am so buzzing with new choreography zooming around my head that I feel I will burst! My favorite class is actually Strictly fit as I will have a room of people who may have never danced before and within an hour they will be dancing the Cha Cha Cha, Salsa, Jive, Foxtrot et al. I did the training for Fitness First on this Strictly Fit program and made DVD’s which are also very popular with people wanting to learn to dance at home and to continue their dancing from the class. All DVD’s are always available on my site. Do you fancy yourself as the next Flavia?

Downloads

I recently added to youtube and facebook a quick clip of my new pre-choreographed dance to ‘Olly Murs – Troublemaker’ I use it in my Zumba classes and the guys love it, take a look and have a little shimmy!

The downloads are still going strong, the most popular are Step and Aerobics. You can purchase them via my website www.joparry.com I will be filming some new ones soon, so please do let me know which disciplines would be useful for you and your classes.

Have a great week whatever you are up to? The snow is falling again so if you do have a snow day or manage to get out to the cinema then just a heads up, Matt and I watched the film ‘Lincoln’ the other evening at the cinema starring Daniel Day – Lewis and directed by Steven Spielberg, the acting was incredible and what President Lincoln stood for was too, but sadly for me, the film was too  slow, I actually nodded off for a second!!! ZZZZZZzzzzzzz

Be safe,

Love Jo x

Let It Snow!

in News / by joparry
January 22, 2013

I made an executive decision to cancel my classes last night due to the weather conditions. I was gutted as I dont like to cancel classes but the snow fall was making travelling conditions treacherous and I was receiving lots of messages from my ladies saying they would not be able to make it and its always better to be safe than sorry. I love the snow but its a pain in the backside when you have a business to run that is reliant on people travelling to you. And why… when it happens every year, is this country still unprepared for the snow, its like everything comes to a stand still. Great for people who get the day off but for us self employed people snow chaos mean s’no’w income!

At what point do you make the decision to cancel your classes, how much warning do you give and what is your priority in your decision making?

I always feel guilty cancelling classes but wonder is it better to cancel and be safe or brave the conditions and teach to a few? Either option will take its toll on my pocket but it is still always a difficult decision to make. To be honest, I have tweaked my achillies slightly so the rest will do me good. I wonder what lies in the week ahead? I always keep an eye on the weather forecasts but to be honest I have more faith in Mystic Meg!

The silver lining is I managed to walk over to Virgin Active today *in my wellies* and teach Dance Aerobics to 7 rather than the usual 24 people.

I am so grateful to my regular class attendees and regardless of how many leaflets I produce or banners I pay for and erect and the council take down its still word of mouth that is the winning formula. Whether its club members talking to other club members or ladies from my community class chatting in the hairdressers a good recommendation is still the best marketing strategy for me, so here’s a little thank you to my loyal and supporting members.

2013. Whats hot?

I always try and start the year one step ahead and research the latest trends, whats big in other parts of the world, whats new at events and conferences and, of course, social media plays a huge part in assessing whats hot and whats not for the year ahead. If a new concept appeals to me I tend to keep an eye on it, research the background and speak to not only the creators but the participants.

When looking at the ACSM’s trends for 2013 I came across this quote which I thought was interesting;

ACSM defines a trend as “a general development or change in a situation or in the way that people are behaving” (dictionary.cambridge.org). A fad is defined as “a fashion that is taken up with great enthusiasm for a short period of time” (dictionary.reference.com).

If you are looking to widen your reportoire this year go for a trend not a fad!

I love the fact that the ACSM predicts the number 1 fitness trend for 2013 will be the demand for educated, certified, fitness professionals! Amen to that!

2. Strength training

3. Body weight training

4. Children and Obesity

5. Exercise and weight loss

6. Fitness programmes for older adults

7. Personal Training

8. Functional fitness

9. Core training

10. Group PT

Mission Clean and Lean

BOOOOOM!

Mission clean and leaners are racing into their second week, their first weeks results were amazing and this week the results are on target, not as much weight loss as the first week which is perfectly normal. We have our second group starting today, they are equally revved up and raring to go. I find this such an empowering and inspiring time.

There’s nothing better that watching people take that first step into investing into themselves and their future.

Learn to love and cherish yourself.

Ready for cupids arrow? We have a 7 day Valentines plan to get you in the mood (and shape) for love.

I have added one of Mission Clean and Leans most popular recipe this week also and it is perfect for the winter chill.

Events

Wooohoo convention season will be soon underway. I am both excited and nervous for it all to start. I love this time of year. I am currently working on all my new choreography and will put it into practice in my classes first.

I am also getting my swag on and investing in some new clothes. My favourite shops or online are StepnPump and Bordoni, they do fantastic class wear. Find them via google.

If you have not already booked for The International Fitness Showcase in Blackpool at the end of March then make sure you do, it’s an incredible event you don’t want to miss.

My diary kicks of with Fitness Fiesta at Hinkley Island hotel the first week end in Feb, places are still available.

I love events. They are addictive.

I taught at a smaller fitness fiesta event in Harrogate at the weekend and it was brilliant. I had basic step, zumba, strictly come dancing (strictly fit) and Hula hoop and the age range is what just blew me away, I had sisters that were 17 and 18 and my wonderful KFA (keep fit asscoication) lady at 84. Now she is remarkable…. and a true advocate that fitness keeps you young.

My training is coming on leaps and bounds apart from tweaking my achillies,  I have been running much more these days both interval, long distance and sprints, I am loving it and feeling much healthier. I have been combining my explosive HIIT training with weights as well… How do you train? I would love to hear what training you guys do? Tweet me @JoParryLeeds #chat

Thank you for purchasing the downloads the most popular in the month of January have been;

Have a wonderful week. Enjoy the snow, stay warm and stay safe!

Welcome to 2013…

#CHAT

So, the new year is well and truly up and running. Are you on it? Did you make any resolutions?
I decided not to make any as such but during 2012 I changed many things in my life that I wish to continue such as; eating cleaner, making more time for my own training, working smarter and spending more time with family and friends. I love my life so if anything my only resolution is to keep doing what i’m doing.

So; It’s all about the January boom. Are you using it wisely? There is a huge emphasis in the media on fitness, diets, nutrition and weight loss so make sure you get yourself out there, get noticed and be an ambassador for your cause. I find the best way to promote your brand is to get results! Before and after pic’s, testimonials, video blogs, articles; get them all together and present them to your local media outlets, press, websites, radio, TV. Everyone loves a good transformation story so get yours noticed whilst it’s on trend.

In next weeks newsletter I have a round up of all the news stories, my thoughts and predictions for 2013. Look out for the what’s hot V what’s not section.

I am buzzing for 2013 and what it holds. I hope you have started back with a bang, if not then get cracking, start as you mean to go on.

My first class back was Zumba, loved it and yes, it hurt! I did train over the Christmas break but I did mostly short explosive workouts which are a different type of fitness to teaching. All the ladies in the class were in agreement that it was great to be back; Just sweating, laughing, moving, jumping, dancing, wow, what a great feeling, all your endorphins flowing. Brilliant!

Classes

I have done some rescheduling this year and added some classes back in club chains. I will be teaching a second Fitness Pilates class at Fitness First. This programme is delivered by Rachel Holmes and is a great discipline to add to your teaching repertoire. I highly recommend booking on to the course. Also, Virgin Active have asked me to do a Freestyle step and Dance Aerobics which I have accepted. So, after much deliberation I am back teaching in clubs. I have previously avoided this after being treated badly but new year, clean slate… I’ll keep you posted. I am, of course, still continuing and excited about all my community classes.
Have you rescheduled for the new year? Keep me updated with your 2013 #chat on twitter at JoParryLeeds
Music ‘getting down with the kids’

I have all my music and new choreography ready for classes and events. I always try and keep up to date with the latest tunes, there seems to be so many more genres than when I were a lass!!!

For all my freestyle classes I indulge in Solid Sound music that you can buy in the UK. The low impact, aerobics, step and street dance are my faves although I do like the odd novelty CD too.

Mission Clean and Lean

Monday 7th Jan sees the start of the Mission Clean and Lean detox. We still have places if you are interested and want to make a big difference to your health and physique and more importantly make a positive influence on your mind. 21 days of healthy eating with a few treats, work outs daily that you can do in your own home and daily guidance, support, giggles, rants and health tips and recipes.

On that note; I would like to share with you a beautiful dish/recipe from my Mission Clean and Lean partner Fern Whittaker, it is delicious, filling, healthy and its good to make for the whole family.

Mackerel Kedgeree

*You can also make this vegetarian or of course add another fish or meat.

This is a great lunch dish for the days we can have a handful of brown rice after our workouts. Serves 4 and freezes well so it’s worth making this amount and freezing some portions. Just garnish with a fresh boiled egg when you reheat it.
1 cal olive oil spray
1 onion, finely chopped
1 tsp ground coriander
1 tsp curry powder
275g brown rice, cooked and drained
100g peas
4 naturally smoked mackerel fillets, flaked
Salt and pepper
2 hard boiled eggs, peeled and quartered

1. In a large frying pan heat the oil and fry onion until soft and translucent
2. Add ground coriander and curry powder and continue frying for a couple of minutes. Stir in the rice, peas and fish. Cook over a low heat stirring continuously.
3. Serve garnished with the eggs.
I have added a chopped chilli and parsley before and this works well too.

It’s YUMMY. Please do let me know if you have any new recipes, you can email me at jo.parry5@btinternet.com or tweet me #chat Joparryleeds

Downloads

If you find yourself teaching lots of pre choreographed classes in your weekly schedule and fancy some new, fun, easy to deliver pre choreographed routines then please check out my downloads, I have done Oli Murs, J’ai Ho, Bengo (Latin) and many more. I teach these in my classes all the times for a change and my members love them for the choreography.

Until next time… Get out there people, make 2013 YOUR year…

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!!! whoop whoop!

Hope you are all enjoying the first day of a brand spanking new year!

Here’s to a fantastic 2013 and a look back at some happy memories from 2012…

Well, to start with Christmas was incredible! Hope you all had a great time too. I was so spoiled by Matt and both our families. As much as I would have loved a white Christmas with a big drive to Reading I was relieved it didn’t snow!

So, hands up, I did eat much more than I should have and loved every mouthful! You just cant beat mum’s homemade cooking and of course an over indulgence of mulled wine!!!

Unfortunately the good times came to a swift end as Matt and I have both been struck down with norovirus. Our New Years Eve consists of Beechams, water and an early night. It sucks not to be partying but we are happy to be together and hoping to get well as quick as possible so we can get back to the gym.

So, on reflection of 2012 I would like to say a huuuuuge heartfelt thank you for all your support, feedback and smiles in my class, at events and in cyberspace. I am so fortunate to be able to do a job I love and I do love my job.

I always find Christmas and New Year is a time for reflection about the past years events and experiences and I always try and learn something for the following year.

I am definitely looking forward to all the exciting new business ventures, conventions and opportunities that are on the horizon this year. I think there is so much opportunity in the community and independent health clubs this year. Lets get the people moving!!! I have been fortunate to work with some incredible fitness people and I know, together, we are making a difference.

Classes
So, new year, new start and its all systems go for my community classes…

Start dates are; Wednesday 2nd January for Zumba at The Milford Rugby club at 7pm. The Thursday class starts on the 3rd of January at The Meanwood Community Centre at 6.30pm. The morning class at The West Park United Reform Church is not starting back until Wednesday 9th January at 10am.
I am so ready to get moving and a grooving again I tell ya!

Events

There are some fantastic events coming up at the beginning of the year including Fitness Fiestas and The International Fitness Showcase. I cant wait!!! I have been spending the Christmas break coming up with new music inspiration and choreography for classes and events this year. I always find my creative juices flow more freely when I have time off.

Mad Friday…

So, we survived the end of the world #pheweeee and now it’s all systems go because ….
IT’S CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Its not just about mistletoe and wine (sorry Cliff!) … I love everything about the festive season; the smell of Christmas, all the different spices, food, drinks, trash TV, presents, cheesy music and dad dancing and most importantly friends and family! Ahhhh. I can not wait 🙂

So, have you completed your Christmas to do list? Did you plan ahead or have a mad frenzy? Or are you still in the throws of panic buying?
I am very, very close to finishing everything *smug face*. I find the older I get the organized I am ‘finally’ getting.
And top it all this time next year I will be a married woman 🙂 so I need to make sure this year I am super organised so I can fit in all the wedding arrangements too.

Classes:
I always love my classes, especially when everyone is in a giddy mood about Christmas but they have knocked off a little bit over the last couple of weeks due to parties, works do’s and late night shopping.
It was to be expected though and I factored it in to my forecasts so now its all about 2013. I am coming back bigger, better and stronger. I am really excited about January. Bring it on!!!
Events:
Zumba Christmas party was off the hook, thank you so much everyone that attended, I loved it. Your outfits were amazing 🙂
It was everything a Christmas party should be with an eclectic mix of music from Gangnam style to Mariah Carey and Cyndi Lauper plus all the Zumba tracks.
Lots of fun was had and the time raced by!
Farewell 2012
So Thursday was my final class for 2012. Wow. I have had such a fab year and stand by my choice and advice from others to teach in the community, I love it. I will be dropping off flyers over Christmas to try and engage some new people which is always exciting. This is such an important time of year to draw in new customers. Don’t waste it!
Mission Clean and Lean
Well, well, well… The Mission Clean and Lean team – SMASHED it in 2012!
Their results were outstanding and more importantly they were over the moon. They are so inspired, happy, driven and confident, look and feel great.
The 12 days of Christmas group did incredible and even surprised themselves with their success. The progress team have gone on to be even stronger, more focused, confident and really are changing their lives forever. They are all waiting for the January sales to buy new slimmer clothes! What a feeling eh!
If you feel you need some guidance with a firm hand!!! Then Mission Clean and Lean is for you. The results speak for themselves and it’s not just a detox it is a holistic program that aids with eating the right nutrition and working our effectively, positive messages for the mind.
Our next group is Monday 7th January or Monday 21 st January; MAKE A DIFFERENCE and start living your life with positivity and control and confidence. You can book it via my website www.joparry.com or check out our website www.cleanleandetox.co.uk There have been some magical changes to peoples lives that have touched us so much. We are thrilled, you don’t have to do this alone!
Downloads and DVD’s
There are some great bargains on the site for all instructors searching for new ideas and routines for there New Year classes. You can purchase quality dvds for as little as £7 (includes postage) or downloads that go straight to your laptop and PC.
Thank you for your feedback and I hope you find the downloads helpful, I have a range of Step, Street Dance, Aerobics and pre choreographed dance aerobics for your Latin and Zumba classes. Do check them out via the shop on my website.
Get your creative juices flowing for routines through single songs or new aerobic music, plus youtube features many video’s for ideas. My channel is joparryleeds you are more than welcome to check it out.

Also, if you looking for some new music www.solidsoundmusic.com has a great new Lo Impact 44 CD that is the NUTS!!!

So; that’s me done for the year. I’m off to Reading with Matt for Christmas and I can’t wait, hoping to stop in on a dear friend in Wales first too.
Thank you for a wonderful year and for all your continued support in classes and at conventions.
Don’t forget to update me on your #chat on twitter @JoParryLeeds
